The year was 1993...
A young publishing automation firm was beginning development of a complex editorial system for a major publisher in the nation's capitol. The system required an editor rigorous enough to create SGML content for the firm's nearly 200 information products--many on daily deadlines that would rival the largest newspaper--yet customizable enough to create an editorial environment that expert, non-computer-savvy authors could and would use. The firm, today's X.Systems, chose a new SGML editor from Arbortext in Ann Arbor, Michigan.
The publisher was The Bureau of National Affairs, Inc. and the project, named Publishing System 2000, has become known worldwide as one of most successful efforts of its kind in history--still depending on X.Systems for support.
Arbortext has grown into the world's premiere structured content software organization, now part of PTC Corporation, while X.Systems built a reputation as one of the most capable and innovative solution developers in the text information world, acknowledged the best Arbortext support team in the industry--outside Arbortext itself. In addition to strategic support and custom development, XSI has created a powerful shelf of editorial and content managment tools, all seamlessly integrated with Arbortext software.
XSI has helped organizations, in virtually every industry and government sector, deal with complex and subtle iniformation challenges; from BNA to aerospace firms like Pratt & Whitney, Lockheed Martin, Boeing, Kidde, United Technologies, Dassault Falconjet, Belcan and Rockwell to publishers like World Book and Lexis Nexis, to government agencies like The Florida Senate, Texas and Oklahoma Secretaries of State, U. S. OMB and EOP, The Department of Energy, DoD and The Library of Congress.
In virtually all of these engagements, where core software was called for, we used Arbortext tools, integrating them with our own and other software resources to build solutions that address information challenges in creative yet prudent ways.
Since its acquisition in june 2008 by XyEnterprise, XSI will continue to provide the same level of expertise and commitment to customer success.
