XSI's Productivity+PLUS  Tool Set:

XSI's Productivity+PLUS applications provide support where and how authors need it, greatly increasing productivity, reducing errors and lowering job stress levels. Productivity+PLUS ™ was a true "grass roots" effort, growing out of real needs instead of attractive technology.  Because of this, the tools fit like a glove, allowing users to become productive almost immediately with only very abbreviated training.

Since 1995, power users like Boeing, Bentley Systems, Ford, Sikorsky, The Bureau of National Affairs, World Book and Pratt & Whitney have chosen Productivity+PLUS ™ to help them fully leverage their structured data efforts. In addition, smaller organizations like the State of Texas, Kidde Aerospace, Bentley Systems and Dayton T. Brown, facing big challenges on limited budgets, have chosen the Desktop. This is software you can trust to pay for itself very quickly.

Among the key applications in the suite are:

  • Version Manager (VM) Version Manager helps authors to create, validate and manage multiple variants of content and hyperlinks from a single SGML file. Based on the concept of "Common Source Effectivity (CSE), VM makes manageable even complex nested versioning and output generation. Version Manager, compliant with most "effectivity" specifications (ATA, AECMA, etc.), is used in multiple industries to meet the challenges of multi-version and multi-media publishing. or example, Ford domestic car and truck owner's manuals are published, for any of 12 model years, from a single SGML file managed by Version Manager.

  • Link Author (LA): Link Author enables authors to easily locate, enter and manage "hyperlinks" and references among portions of XML/SGML data anywhere in their repository. RM also ensures that changes to document content or versioning do not inadvertently break existing links. With Link Author, writers and editors no longer need choose between meeting their deadlines and taking the time to create links. Likewise, production staff no longer need fear the prospect of last-minute pre-delivery "dead link" cleanup associated with traditional methods of linking.

  • Change Manager (CM):Change Manager enables authors to enter and track "redline" revisions to XML/SGML content and its associated hyperlinks. CM manages and reports change over time and across multiple output versions and delivery formats. CM is compliant with the temporary and permanent revision control requirements of most standard data specifications including ATA 2100, AECMA 1000D and DoD CALS. Change Manager is integrtaed with Proximity Manager so that revisions to content may be associated with designated external events or entities. This integration supports a high degree of control and visibility in the revision process, establishing a tight "proximity" between the nature of revisions and the reasons for which they are made.

Language Manager (LM)

XSI's Language Manager (LM): helps authors to write productively in a controlled vocabulary, AECMA Simplified English or other grammar specification. LM provides full control of the grammar checking, analysis and correction process, ensuring that text is compliant with the specification in use. Working with the powerful MAXit grammar analysis engine, LM makes this demanding editorial task easier, faster and more accurate. And the positive impact of controlled language on translation is truly breathtaking.

Although LM is optional and sold separately, it is fully integrated with the other components of the XSI tool set for LM users who use them. With Language Manager and MAXit, you can gain full control of your terminology and authoring process at a very affordable cost and with a minimum of dislocation of your operations. Users tell us that, with LM, introduction of controlled language impacts their editorial productivity only slightly, often actaully increasing it after initial ramp-up
